FAQS
Are you a qualified fertility acupuncturist?
Yes. I hold a BSc in Acupuncture and a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction in Gynaecology, Fertility and Obstetrics, and I'm currently completing an Advanced Level Diploma in reproductive immunology. I'm a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network and trained in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Acupuncture. I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes, when carried out by a fully qualified, insured practitioner using single-use sterile needles, which is standard practice at Yin Space. I'll always talk you through any risks specific to your situation, particularly if you're pregnant or undergoing fertility treatment.
Do you work alongside my IVF/IUI clinic?
Yes. I regularly treat patients who are also under the care of a fertility clinic, and I'm happy to liaise with your consultant or adjust timing around your protocol if that's useful.
Can acupuncture actually help with fertility?
Acupuncture supports fertility by improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, helping regulate the hormonal signals that drive ovulation, and reducing the stress response that can interfere with conception. It works best alongside, not instead of, medical fertility treatment where that's part of your plan.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your individual case, but most patients start with weekly sessions for the first 6-8 weeks so we can properly assess your pattern and response, then move to a maintenance schedule from there. I'll give you a realistic plan and timeframe at your first consultation.
Can I have acupuncture during an IVF cycle?
Yes, and many patients specifically time sessions around egg collection and embryo transfer. I'll work with your clinic's calendar to plan this properly.
Do you treat PCOS?
Yes. I use a combination of acupuncture and TCM dietary and lifestyle guidance to help regulate cycles and support ovulation in PCOS, alongside whatever medical treatment you're already receiving.
Do you treat thyroid or autoimmune-related fertility issues?
Yes, this is an area I have specific advanced training in. Thyroid function and immune regulation both play a significant role in conception and implantation, and I assess for these patterns as part of a full case history.
What is recurrent implantation failure and can you help?
Recurrent implantation failure is when embryos repeatedly fail to implant despite good quality, often linked to uterine blood flow, immune factors, or endometrial receptivity. This is a specific focus of my advanced reproductive immunology training, and it's something I assess for directly.
Is acupuncture safe once I'm pregnant?
Yes, with an experienced practitioner. Certain points and techniques are avoided or adjusted depending on the stage of pregnancy, and I always tailor treatment accordingly.
What happens at a first consultation?
Your first session includes a full case history, a review of your cycle and any hormone data or test results you bring, and a tailored treatment plan, followed by your first treatment.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Any recent blood tests, cycle tracking data (Mira, BBT charts, or similar), and details of any fertility treatment you're currently having or have had.
How long does a session take?
90 minutes for the initial consultation, 60 minutes for follow-up sessions.
What's the difference between your Horley and Marylebone clinics?
Both offer the same level of care and clinical approach. Marylebone is designed for patients based in or near central London, particularly those attending clinics along the Harley Street corridor.
Is Yin Space Marylebone close to Harley Street fertility clinics?
Yes, the clinic is a five-minute walk from Harley Street and close to The Evewell, The Lister, CRGC and The London Women's Clinic as well as many others, making it easy to fit a session around appointments at any of these.
Do I need a referral to book?
No, you can book directly with me. No GP or clinic referral is needed.
Do you accept private medical cover?
Yes, treatment is covered by over 20 insurers including BUPA, Axa and Aviva. I do advise checking what your individual policy allows directly with your insurer before attending treatment for which I can provide invoice to allow you to claim back all or some of your costs.
